Time at Anchor: Friday Image With Words – Simple Photography Tips by Michael Blyth

Time at Anchor, going nowhere fast. A wonderful scene for a simple photograph in the morning light. But the words suggest more than that.

This image, taken on a photo-journal trip in the Ionian Sea, can be read many ways. For me, the suggestion is that time at anchor is not wasted. Planning the route ahead when you're not having the demands of life interfering with every thought, is a place of wisdom.
In this image, with no wind, the yacht would be drifting, a bit like we can in life when there seems nothing to move us in a clear direction. So how about deliberately stopping, resting, restoring and repairing, looking at the options.
With a yacht, you look at the charts (maps), assess the weather forecast, and sort your route.
With life, your chart may not be so obvious, and the route take more time to sort. But rest brings a clearer head, and that can bring inspiration about a more exciting course.
For me, a Friday image with words is a small pause at the end of the week, a moment to look, reflect, and perhaps bless others a little more deliberately.
I hope you find hope where it currently seems missing, where your mind is breathless with hurt, anger, fear.
If you are struggling with your way ahead, in work, or relationship, perhaps this will help in some small way.
Every Friday I post an image with words that I hope may help. If you'd like to see them regularly, please subscribe. That way you won't miss anything - after all we never know what image or words are going to land well.
