Sometimes we underestimate how much we have to be truly weak before we finally surrender and lean on another. There's a strange and almost holy sense in which we finally muster the strength of will to do what is hardest of all, to trust another, and take some energy from them, that helps you to recharge, and resurface in a better place.

Proverbs 3 has words for all of us, but for now, as I don't know where your faith sits, the words "and lean not on your own understanding" often apply when you trust another for comfort.

A small tip if you want to catch this kind of moment with your own pets: get down to their level rather than shooting from above, and focus directly on the nearest eye rather than the nose.
