Three simple photography tips how to avoid lens flare

  • Change Your Position - A small shift left or right can block direct sunlight and instantly reduce lens flare, giving you more contrast and clarity.
  • Use What’s Already There - Trees, rocks, posts or even the landscape itself can act as natural shields to stop stray light washing out your image.
  • Watch the Light - If the light is hitting your lens directly, adjust your viewpoint until the scene reveals its best version.

Out for a few minutes walk before meeting Favourite Middle Daughter for a before work coffee from Roc and Floss at the market. I was able to capture a short video demonstrating how to use existing objects to avoid lens flare that occurs from bright light entering the lens at the wrong angle - this is usually sunlight, but can also be streetlights etc.

One quick idea to help you reduce lens flare and keep your landscape images clean, clear and full of detail.
